Within the Leadshine CS2RS driver series, the CS2RS-D503 is a basic version. The drive is almost identical to the CS2RS-D507, but is only suitable for a current of up to 3 amps instead of 7 amps. Since most users do not need the higher current for smaller NEMA17 stepper motors. They then opt for the more favorable price. We recommend this drive when using NEMA17 closed loop stepper motors. (Open loop is also possible by setting a parameter in the driver to open loop)
The newly released Leadshine CS2RS-D503 supports Modbus RTU control and the operating modes, including Profile Position (PP), Profile Velocity (PV), Homing (HM) e. These drives can be combined with many brands of HMIs but also PLCs, such as Beckhoff, Delta, Omron, Trio, Keyence, etc.
The CS2RS-D503 can drive 2-phase and 4-phase NEMA17 stepper motors with 1000 / 2500 / 5000 line incremental encoders. The drives are very reliable, competitively priced and are used with great satisfaction in many industrial applications.
NOTE: the Modbus protocol is not suitable for CNC control because it is not possible to run synchronously.
The advantages of Modbus in brief:
- Built-in single-axis control can make the PLC cost-saving in most point-to-point applications
- Improved performance (high-speed movement with high resolution) (pulse/rate is no longer an issue)
- Built-in, extensive diagnostic functions and input and output signals for easy installation
- Modbus offers more expansion options to add value
- Also easy to connect to an HMI
- Simple wiring and communication distance up to 100 meters possible
- NOTE: for interpolation between multiple axes we do not recommend using MODBUS! Works perfectly for single-axis systems or multiple axes that do not have to run in SYNC. But as soon as it really comes to precise interpolation, you better switch to STEP/DIR or EtherCAT.
Component features:
- Communication method 1: ModbusRTU
- Communication method 2: Digital inputs, as event triggers for internal path generator
