We use this toroidal transformer to make isolation power supplies. This can be handy in applications like EPS cutting, where you do not want to get electrocuted, when touching the cutting wire by accident. This transformer also has an internal temperature switch. A normally closed contact, which switches to the open position if the transformer becomes too hot. You can then link this back to, for example, a PLC or CNC control, or a safety relay, to switch off the system.
